Egbert (Osnabrück)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Egbert (also Eckbert ) († February 1, 884 ) was bishop of Osnabrück from around 860 to 884 .

Egbert must have been a bishop as early as 860, since he consecrated the Herzebrock Abbey as the first of its kind in the Osnabrück diocese. In the same year he was present at the imperial assembly in Mainz . He also took part in the imperial assemblies of 868 in Worms and 873 in Cologne . He also tried to regain the tithe that Count Cobbo had withdrawn from his pen .
