Egi Tasuku ( Japanese 江木 翼 ; maiden name: Hamura Tasuku; born April 24, 1873 in Yamaguchi ; † September 18, 1932 ) was a statesman in the Japanese Empire , who was, among other things, several times minister in various cabinets.

Life

Hamura Tasuku was from the government officials and politicians Egi Kazuyuki adopted and then was called Egi Tasuku. After attending Yamaguchi High School , he began studying law at the Graduate School of Law and Politics of the Law Faculty of Tokyo University , which he graduated on May 17, 1897. He then became an employee in the Secret Privy Council ( Sūmitsu-in ) and in the manor ( Kizokuin ) . He passed the examination for the higher service in December 1898 and was employed in the Ministry of the Interior ( Naimu-shō ) in January 1899 . After working in the administration of Kanagawa Prefecture , he was finally council (Sanjikan) in the legislative office of the cabinet (Naikaku hōseikyoku) and secretary in the cabinet secretariat (Naikaku kambō) .

On December 21, 1912, Hamura Tasuku finally took over the post of Chief Cabinet Secretary (Naikaku Shokikanchō) in the Katsura III cabinet and held it until February 20, 1913. Between April 16, 1914 and October 9, 1916, he also held the office of chief cabinet secretary in the Ōkuma II cabinet . On October 10, 1916 he was one of the founding members of the Unification of the Constitution party ( Kenseikai ) and was appointed a member of the Manor ( Kizokuin ) , the upper house of the Reichstag (Teikoku-gikai) . In the Katō Takaaki cabinet he took over again on June 11, 1924, the office of chief cabinet secretary and after a restructuring of the cabinet from August 2, 1925 to January 30, 1926, the office of Minister of Justice (Shihō-daijin) . From January 30, 1926 to April 20, 1927, he also held the office of Minister of Justice in the subsequent Wakatsuki I cabinet . After the dissolution of the Kenseikai on June 27, 1927 he joined the Constitutional Democratic Party ( Rikken Minseitō ) , which arose from a merger of the Kenseikai with the political party Seiyū Hontō by Tokonami Takejirō . He was temporarily a consultant and managing director of the Rikken Minseitō .

Egi Tasuku was from July 2, 1929 to April 14, 1931 Railway Minister (Tetsudō-daijin) in the Hamaguchi cabinet . In the subsequently formed Wakatsuki II cabinet , he continued to serve as Minister of Railways between April 14 and September 10, 1931. He was one of the signatories of the London Naval Treaty , signed on April 22, 1930 and ratified by all parties on October 27, 1930.
