Egon Roth (born May 1, 1980 in Blasendorf , Romania ) is a former German boxing professional. He is the brother of Dieter Roth , also a professional heavyweight boxer.

Career

Roth started boxing at the age of 14. As an amateur, the trained locksmith , who lives in Frankenthal , achieved 37 victories in 40 fights. He was twice German junior champion and took third place at the 1997 European Junior Championships in Birmingham in the super heavyweight division.

In 2003, Roth became a professional boxing professional with the newly founded Hamburg boxing stable Spotlight , his trainer was Michael Timm . He won all of his 19 professional fights against mostly little-known build-up opponents . However, he was unable to meet the high expectations of being the German heavyweight bearer of hope. He often had to struggle with injuries (including a broken metacarpal, tendon rupture, torn muscle fiber, tonsil surgery and chronic back problems), which is why repeated scheduled fights (including the planned fight for the German championship against veteran Andreas Sidon ) had to be canceled. He then ended his career as an active boxer in May 2008.
