Egwala Seyon
Egwala Seyon ( Ethiop . እጓለ ጽዮን, also Egwale Seyon Hezqeyas ; † June 3, 1818 ) was Emperor of Ethiopia from June 1801 until his death . He was a member of the Solomonic dynasty and the son of Hezqeyas .
He was made emperor ( Negus Negest ) by the nobles Wolde Selassie and Gugsa von Yejju and by the head of the Oromo . Then Egwala married Seyon Walatta Iyasus, the sister of Ras Gugsa and they had five children. When Henry Salt Ras Wolda visited Selassie in his palace in Chalacot in 1809/1810, the emperor's brother, Kenyazmach Iyasu, was also a guest there.
Since 1803 his government was overshadowed by constant civil war. Most of the fights were part of the disputes between Ras Gugsa, Ras Gabrael von Semien and Wolde Selassie. Egwale Seyon was also attacked by Oromo armies from Gondar in 1804 and 1808 . These lived south of the Abay River.
