Egyptalum , also Egypt Aluminum or as a ticker symbol EGAL , Arabic مصر للألومنيوم, DMG Miṣr li-l-Alūminyūm , is one of the most important aluminum manufacturers in Africa. The company headquarters with the production facilities is located in Nag Hammadi, Upper Egypt . The company obtains the electrical energy required for aluminum production from the Aswan Dam , which is almost 330 km away, and uses the port of Safaga, which is about 210 km to the east, for the exchange of goods . The company, which was conceived in the early 1970s, is essentially owned by the Egyptian state through its majority shareholder (92.17%) of the Metalic Industries Holding Company, a state holding company .
