Former training ground in Landshut with Isarleite
The former training site Landshut with Isarleite is a nature reserve in the east of the city of Landshut .
location
The nature reserve is located in the east of the city of Landshut on the right edge of the Isar valley between Schönbrunn and Stallwang. It has a size of about 278.5 hectares and has existed since 2001.
fauna and Flora
The former training area of the Bundeswehr consists of large parts of the Tertiary Hill Country and in the Isar Valley, the Ochsenau, of poor grassland with a few small bodies of water. The hillside Leite der Isar is dominated by natural forests, including in particular sycamore - ash forest and beech forests and orchids -Buchenwald. There are around 25 plant species on the Bavarian Red List , including the largest population of strawberry clover in Lower Bavaria . The region is a habitat for amphibians , birds , butterflies , grasshoppers , wild bees and beetles . Particularly noteworthy is the occurrence of the yellow-bellied toad , the great crested newt and the German tiger beetle . As a biotope maintenance measure, the former armored tracks are being made by heavy wheel loaders. This creates puddles and water holes that are intended to preserve the diverse range of species in the nature reserve.
Ownership
The area of the nature reserve belongs to three different owners:
- The Tertiary Hill Country , the southeastern area, was taken over by the German Federal Environment Foundation in 2010 .
- Most of the Isarleiten forest area belongs to the Heiliggeist Spitalstiftung of the city of Landshut .
- The north-western area in the Isar valley, the Ochsenau, belongs to the city of Landshut .
use
The nature reserve is used to experience nature and to relax. It is part of the city of Landshut's hiking concept . The open land areas are used by a shepherd. Since 2008 there has been full-time area support for the nature reserve. The sponsor is the city of Landshut and the project is funded by the European Social Fund . The area manager offers monthly tours in the nature reserve on various topics.
