from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The cross of honor for both lines of the Principality of Reuss was set up as a civil honor cross.

For the younger Reuss line , the founder was Heinrich LXVII. The date of foundation was October 20, 1857. About 11 months later, Prince Heinrich XX. on September 15, 1858 this award of the same name for the older line . According to the statutes , the awards were only created for residents.

Order classes

Two classes had been established for both principality lines.

  1. Class in gold
  2. Class in silver

Order decoration

The decoration of the order of the two principalities did not differ significantly. A gold or silver cross with four arched arms formed this order . A twisted, embossed “string” adorned the cross. Its position made the difference in decoration. The younger line had the strings moved away from the edge, while the other line preferred the edge.

The center of the cross had a round medallion surrounded by a green enameled oak wreath . On the front was the inscription "For loyal services" in gold for both principalities. In the lapel was the intertwined initials "FR" with a golden crown for the younger line and the other line also had the rain number "XX". To honor military merits, only the cross of the younger line under the center field had two crossed swords that were visible in the cross corners. The older line renounced its application as a military merit order .

Ribbon

The ribbon was different for the principality lines. Reuss, younger line was a single color amaranth red and had no marginal stripes. Reuss, the older line, had chosen the color ultramarine blue and an amaranth red stripe on both sides of the tape.
