Announcement of the takeover of government by Prince Heinrich XX.

Heinrich stuck to the absolutist system of government; although he voluntarily gave the country a constitution in 1848, it was never implemented. As an Austrian officer, the prince was the only Thuringian regent alongside Sachsen-Meiningen on Austria's side on the German question . Since he left a minor hereditary prince behind when he died, his wife took over the reign of the country.
