Heinrich XIX. , Prince Reuss older line, Count and Lord of Plauen, Lord of Greiz, Kranichfeld, Gera, Schleiz and Lobenstein (born March 1, 1790 in Offenbach ; † October 31, 1836 in Greiz ).

Life

Heinrich XIX. was a son of Prince Heinrich XIII. Reuss zu Greiz and his wife Princess Luise von Nassau-Weilburg (1765–1837). He followed his father as Prince Reuss zu Greiz in 1817.

In 1819 Heinrich had the so-called "Old Guard" built opposite the Lower Palace by the master builder Wilhelm Pöhl, in which the palace guard was housed until 1918.

Prince Heinrich married Princess Gasparine (1798–1871), daughter of Prince Charles de Rohan-Rochefort, in Prague on January 7, 1822 . In her honor he built the Gasparin Temple on the Alexandrinenberg in Greiz . Since his wife was a Catholic, the prince had the porcelain rotunda in Greizer Park converted into a Catholic chapel. Princess Gasparine founded a Catholic community again in Greiz.
