Prince Heinrich XIII. Reuss a. L. , Prince Reuss, Count and Lord of Plauen, Lord of Greiz, Kranichfeld, Gera, Schleiz and Lobenstein (* February 16, 1747 in Greiz ; † January 29, 1817 ibid) from the House of Reuss was ruling from 1800 Prince of the Principality of Reuss older line , a direct imperial territory in the Holy Roman Empire and from 1815 a federal state in the German Confederation .

Life

Henry XIII. was a son of Prince Heinrich XI. Reuss zu Greiz, the first prince of the older line, and his first wife, Countess Konradine Reuss zu Köstritz. He followed his father as Prince Reuss zu Greiz in 1800.

After the devastating city fire of Greiz in 1802, he had the lower castle rebuilt in the classicist style by 1809 and finally relocated the residence from the upper castle to the lower castle.

As General Feldzeugmeister Heinrich stood together with his brothers Heinrich XIV. And Heinrich XV. in Austrian service and was considered a close friend of Emperor Joseph II.

Henry XIII. joined the Rhine Confederation with his country in 1807 and the German Confederation in 1815 . At the Congress of Vienna he managed to settle a territorial dispute with the Kingdom of Saxony and, among other things, to win the villages of Altgommla and Kühdorf for his principality.
