from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Medal of Honor of the President of Iceland was founded in 1954 by Ásgeir Ásgeirsson and can be given to both Icelanders and foreigners for services rendered to the President while he is in office.

The front of the silver medal shows the image of Ingólfur Arnarson , Iceland's first settler , on the stem of a Viking ship . All around is the inscription HEIĐURSPENINGUR FORSETA ÍSLANDS (Medal of Honor of the President of Iceland). The Icelandic national coat of arms can be seen on the back.

The medal is worn on an ultramarine blue ribbon on the left chest.
