Federal Song Festival 1846

The 2nd Federal Singers' Festival took place on June 14th and 15th, 1846 in Schaffhausen . A total of 1500 singers took part in 65 clubs, as well as 4 guest clubs from Germany.

The festival was organized by the Schaffhausen men's choir (today the Schaffhauser Oratorio Choir). For the first time, a jury regulation that Franz Xaver Schnyder von Wartensee had drawn up was applied.

As president of the festival Schaffhauser acted Munster Pastor  Daniel Schenkel . The president of the jury was the mayor of Schaffhausen, Ferdinand von Waldkirch , and the director of the overall performance was the director of the men's choir, Christian Ludwig Classen .
