Eily Malyon

Eily Malyon (* the thirtieth October 1879 in London , England as Eily Sophie Lees Craston ; † 26. September 1961 in South Pasadena , California ) was a British actress.

life and career

Eily Malyon was born in London as the daughter of actress Agnes Thomas. The long-standing theater actress made in 1931 at the age of 52 years her film debut as a nurse in Hollywood Strip Born to Love at the side of Constance Bennett . Because of her skinny, bony shape and a generally distinctive appearance, Malyon was usually cast in strict to hostile, often old-boy character roles. She often played governesses, housekeepers, aunts and teachers in supporting roles. She often played in literary adaptations, such as the deeply religious Mrs. Cruncher in the Dickens filming Escape from Paris or as the mysterious housekeeper Mrs. Barrymore in the Sherlock Holmes film The Dog of Baskerville .

In 1948 she retired from the Hollywood business after having made over 80 film appearances. Malyon died of cancer in 1961 at the age of 81 in South Pasadena, California.
