Bucket (Berlin)

Der Eimer was an underground club founded in 1990 in an occupied house at Rosenthaler Strasse  68 in Berlin-Mitte . The co-founders included the bands Freygang , Ichfunktion and Die Firma . In 1999 a court proceeding ordered the evacuation of the building, which was not enforced until 2003.

In the years of its existence, the bucket was considered a breeding ground for an experimental scene in Berlin's off-culture and many artists, bands, DJs and party makers, including members of the Spiral Tribe collective. The house got its name from the many buckets full of rubble that had to be carried out by the occupiers before they could be used.

On the night of June 27-28, 2001, an inspection of the economic office took place under police protection of around 20 officers. The unsafe power lines were particularly criticized. On July 2nd of the same year, the Housing Association Mitte (WBM) had new locks installed. Despite the establishment of the Rettet den Eimer eV and negotiations with the housing association, there was no reopening.

The bucket is the location of a scene in the film Good Bye, Lenin! from 2003.
