The dugout canoe from Seekirch in Baden-Württemberg , which was raised in 2012 , was found in the Federseeried . Today, with several prehistoric pile dwellings, the Federsee is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site for Prehistoric Pile Dwellings .

The well-preserved dugout canoe comes from the Neolithic Age . The 33 square kilometer Federseeried is one of 111 sites that were placed on the Unesco World Heritage List in 2011. The six-meter-long dugout canoe was about one meter deep in the moor of the Federseeried near Seekirch in the Biberach district . It is broken into several pieces, but the pieces are in good condition. The very thin-walled, therefore light, dugout canoe made of linden wood is 150 m away from a settlement that dates back to around 2800 BC. Was built. The site of the dugout canoe is now kilometers from the water due to the silting up of the Federsee.
