The remains of the prehistoric enclosure at Sandwick were discovered in 2006 in Sandwick near the Ring of Brodgar , on the isthmus (Scottish: Ness), between the Loch of Stenness and the Loch of Harray , on Orkney Mainland in Scotland . The course is close to the banks of the Loch of Harray. His age has not yet been determined.

On the Ness of Brodgar there are now four ring monuments: the Ring of Brodgar ( Henge ), the Bookan and the Stones of Stenness . Then there is the Disk Barrow by Wasbister, the Dyke of Sean, whose age cannot be assessed, four menhirs , the Barnhouse settlement , over a dozen burial mounds , several stone boxes and, last but not least, the megalithic complex of Maes Howe .

Torn down in the more recent past, the ring turned out to be an approximately one meter wide wall, which is still approximately 30 cm high in places. The evaluation of aerial photographs showed that the prehistoric wall spanned a circular area with an estimated diameter of about 100 meters. The ring of Brodgar is 103.6 meters in diameter.

A 2006 ground penetrating radar survey revealed another massive prehistoric settlement covering several acres north of the Ring of Brodgar and west of the new enclosure.
