Melt-down alloy
A melt-down alloy is an alloy that is suitable for melting into glass or quartz.
It is made up of iron and nickel or iron, nickel and cobalt , which has a certain coefficient of thermal expansion over a defined temperature range . The coefficient of thermal expansion is in this temperature range of the same size as that of z. B. Glasses and porcelain .
Wires made of melt-in alloys are melted into the materials and vacuum-tight feedthroughs for electrical currents are achieved, even at higher temperatures. Examples of use can be found in incandescent lamp , semiconductor and tube production .
