Single shaft arrangement
By a single shaft (arrangement engl. Single Shaft ) is generally referred to when a plurality of power and / or working machines on a common shaft are driven or driving them.
The term is particularly common at
- Jet engines when all stages of the gas turbine and turbo compressor are on one shaft (turbojet, as opposed to the normally two-shaft turbofan ).
- Combined cycle power plants , when all the machines in the turbine set ( gas turbine , steam turbine , electric generator ) are mounted on one shaft.
