Eirmotus is a Southeast Asian genus of small carp fish . It occurs with four species on the Malay Peninsula , Sumatra and Borneo .
features
Eirmotus are a little high-backed, with their yellowish to reddish-brown basic color and the horizontal stripes look like delicate girdled barbel and reach body lengths of 3.2 to 3.6 cm. The sides of the body are marked by eight vertical black to brown bands. Sensory papillae of the lateral line system form conspicuous patterns on the head . The sideline only extends over two to six perforated scales. Barbels are absent. The last unbranched fin ray of the dorsal fin is sawn.
Way of life
Eirmotus species live in swamps, lakes and other standing waters of the lowlands, usually in the rainforest , are sensitive to disturbances and disappear with the trees when deforestation occurs.
