a modern ice pack

A modern ice pack is a waterproof (mostly plastic ) bag with water , coolant - gel or another cool substance as its contents. Traditionally, the ice pack was made of flexible fabric (waterproof material, rubber) and could be filled with ( crushed ) ice or cold - depending on the application, warm - water through a screw cap . The water could possibly be enriched with a saline solution .

Ice packs are used in both modern, static and traditional, flexible designs in medicine and sports (e.g. football, boxing ) to cool minor injuries . Another medical application is the transport of animal or human organs as part of a transplant . The use of ice packs is also necessary there.

Modern ice packs are called "Cold Hot Pack" because they also heat up and e.g. B. can be used as a compress for tension and chronic muscle pain.
