Eisenbahn-Verkehr A.-G (EVA) is a railway company that rented railway wagons, mainly tank wagons for liquids and gases, from 1899 to 2002 .

history

The Eisenbahn -verkehr A.-G was founded on November 24th, 1899. It was founded by taking over the Deutsche Waggon-Leihanstalt G. m. b. H. as Deutsche Waggon-Leihanstalt Aktien-Gesellschaft. In 1917 Wagenbau AG, Wismar, was integrated and renamed "Eisenbahn-Verkehr AG", or "EVA" for short.

In 1943 this was followed by a stake in the Wismar AG railcar and wagon factory , Seestadt Wismar and the Waggon-Fabrik AG, Uerdingen (Lower Rhine). In 1948 the company's headquarters were relocated to Düsseldorf . In 2002, after several name changes and mergers, the company was merged into VTG-Lehnkering AG , at that time a subsidiary of Hapag-Lloyd and TUI . VTG AG has been listed on June 28, 2007.

Before the Second World War, the business field was the rental and purchase of locomotives, tenders, motor vehicles, rail and tram cars, tankers, tank systems and the like, as well as tank storage. When it was founded in 1899, this was a new business area in Germany . Today (as of 2010) this is done without locomotives, tenders, motor and tram cars. Tank wagons with the EVA logo can still be found on European tracks , as they were not repainted after they were acquired by VTG in 2002.
