Iron color (heraldry)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In heraldry, the white-gray ( gray ) to sky-blue iron color , also steel color , is one of the non- classic colors that was only later assigned to heraldic tinctures as base metal . The heraldic hatching for the representation of the iron color in monochrome pictures of coats of arms is not entirely clear. The first pattern consists of close-fitting lines running diagonally from the right and left. The second hatching pattern is the internationally more common one, with dashed vertical and dashed horizontal lines. It is usually interpreted with a darker gray.
