Eisenstrasse (Hesse)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Eisenstrasse in Hessen is an old trade route .

The road is signposted as a cycling and hiking trail

course

It begins at the Michelbacher Hütte in a southerly direction, leaves the Aar valley and then leads on a ridge to Hahn , a current district of Taunusstein . Then she crossed the Taunus crossing called Eiserne Hand , turned in the direction of the Fasanerie at the former wood chopping house and then into Alte Schwalbacher Strasse, which is now called Lahnstrasse.

use

Originally, the road was used, among other things, to transport iron farm stoves from the hut to the city of Wiesbaden to the south .

Today the mostly graveled route is used as a forest and field path, but has also developed into a popular riding , hiking and mountain bike route, which runs largely over ridges and open country and offers excellent views.
