Eisley is a rock band from Tyler , Texas . It consists of the four siblings Chauntelle, Sherri, Stacy, and Weston DuPree as well as their cousin Garron DuPree. They describe themselves as a melodic indie rock band.
Band history
According to their own information, the band was founded in 1997. From 1998 to 2002 they had their first appearances in local pubs and cafes. The parents of the four siblings support the band by making the group the house band of their Brewtones Coffee Galaxy . There they played together with Ester Drang , Midlake , Waterdeep and other locally known groups.
After Eisley made a name for themselves in Dallas , they were invited to auditions in New York and Los Angeles . In 2003 they got a contract with Warner Bros. Records . Also in 2003 they were recognized as Best New Artist at the Dallas Observer Music Awards .
At this point the group had agreed on the name Eisley . They were originally named after a space city from the Star Wars films called Mos Eisley . However, since this brought legal problems with it, the name was shortened to the current band name.
The group had further success with the song Telescope Eyes . Music videos were also produced for this song, as well as for Marvelous Things , I Wasn't Prepared , Memories and Invasion .
In addition to the four siblings Chauntelle (lead guitar), Sherri (keyboard and vocals), Stacy (guitar and vocals), and Weston (drums) DuPree, Amy Whittaker initially played bass. However, he was replaced by Taylor Muse in 1998. This left the band again in 2001 because he wanted to devote himself to other projects. Jonathan Wilson, a friend of the band, replaced him. He stayed on as a bass player until 2005 and still played on the tour with Hot Hot Heat . The bass is currently occupied by the cousin of the siblings Garron DuPree. He was just 15 years old in 2005.
