Ekim Bonchev
Ekim Stefanow Bontschew ( Bulgarian Еким Стефанов Бончев ; born April 16, 1907 in Sofia , † January 16, 1992 in Sofia) was a Bulgarian geologist .
Life
After Bonchev had studied natural sciences in Sofia, he deepened his studies in Berlin in 1937 and 1938 . In 1945 he became a professor at the University of Sofia . From 1960 to 1967 he was director of the Geological Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences .
In his scientific work he dealt with regional geology , paleontology , stratigraphy and tectonics . The first synthesis of the geological structure of Bulgaria comes from him. He was awarded the Dimitrov Prize.
