Ekkehard Birkholz

Ekkehard Birkholz (born April 6, 1933 in Halberstadt ) is a German politician ( SPD , later REP ).

Birkholz graduated from high school in 1952 and passed the teacher's examination in Ballenstedt in the Magdeburg district in 1954 . He moved to West Berlin and began studying chemistry at the Free University of Berlin in 1956 , which he graduated with a diploma in 1964. In 1969 Birkholz received his doctorate and became a teacher, first at the Berlin-Kolleg, later at the Neukölln education center Lipschitzallee.

In 1960 Birkholz became a member of the SPD. In 1979 he was elected to the Berlin House of Representatives and was able to win the direct mandate for the constituency of Neukölln 8.

In November 1991 Birkholz was elected chairman of the state association of Saxony-Anhalt of the " Republicans ", eight months later he became deputy federal chairman under Franz Schönhuber . In January 1993 he left the "Republicans".
