Eknö is a 3 km wide and one kilometer long island in the archipelago of Stockholm . It is located about 2.4 kilometers northwest of Sandhamn and belongs to Värmdö kommun .

The island is believed to have been inhabited since the 13th century. Eknö and the surrounding islands appear in a royal deed of donation to the Santa Clara Monastery. The first recorded resident is the pilot Eskil Rasmusson. It appeared in a tax register from 1626. A crew register of the Swedish royal fleet from 1695 shows that there were five pilots on the island and one on Sandhamn. During the Russian devastationin 1719, all houses on the island were burned down. However, in 1754 there were again five pilots and eight workers. It was not until 1850 that piloting activities were concentrated on the neighboring island of Sandhamn and this trade died out on Eknö. In 1875 the last resident left the island and moved to Sandhamn with his house.

Today there are only summer houses on the island.
