Elías Blanco Mamani (born July 20, 1962 in La Paz , Bolivia ) is a Bolivian journalist , literary scholar and biographer .

Live and act

Elías Blanco Mamani began collecting writings from Bolivian authors at an early age, which he made available to the public in articles. Its library contains over 1300 volumes.

In 2004 the Enciclopedia Gesta de autores de la literatura boliviana was published , which was financed by the United Nations Development Program . He chose the title component "Gesta" in memory of the literary group around the newspaper Gesta Bárbara , which appeared again briefly from 1918 to 1926 and 1948.

For the further publication of his work he founded the publishing house "El Aparapita", with which a cultural center of the same name and a museum are connected. He took the name "El Aparapita" from people who in Bolivia - especially in markets - bear the burdens placed on them, and about whom Jaime Sáenz published the font El Aparapita in 1968 . The publisher also publishes works by other Bolivian authors.

From 2011 the Enciclopedia Gesta appeared in two parts. The Diccionario de poetas bolivianos contains biographies of 1066 poets, the Diccionario de novelistas bolivianos information on 918 works by 491 authors as well as comments and the sources used. Three more parts on storytellers, playwrights and essayists are planned.

In addition to his printed editions, he runs the Diccionario Cultural Boliviano blog .
