ElPozo is a Spanish manufacturer of meat and sausage products. The company is part of the grocery holding Grupo Fuertes.
history
The company emerged in 1954 from a cold meat shop that had opened in Alhama de Murcia in 1936 . In 1971 ElPozo opened its first own slaughterhouse with a cooling system and a cutting room.

With a turnover of 1129 million euros, which corresponds to an increase of 8.4 percent compared to the previous year (financial year 2017), ElPozo is the second most important company in the autonomous community of Murcia after the Hefame Group. In 2018 the workforce exceeded 4,600 employees. The company is represented in 75 countries around the world and exports to four continents. The company ranks 20th in the Spanish food sector and is number one in the following autonomous communities and provinces: Andalusia , Castile-La Mancha , Canary Islands , Murcia and Extremadura .
In 2018 ElPozo Alimentación received two gold medals from the German Agricultural Society (DLG) for the quality of their products.
criticism
The company came under fire in February 2018 when the conditions for keeping pigs from the Cefusa farm became known. German discounters then took ElPozo products off the shelves. The company denied the allegations and responded according to its own statements with an "ambitious protocol on animal welfare and animal welfare in Spain".
