El Bravo

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

El Bravo is an Italian comic series developed in 1952 by the comic book writer Gian Giacomo Dalmasso and the illustrator Franco Bignotti . The story of the masked avenger El Bravo, who stands by the side of the weak, was based on the figure of Zorro in 1952 for the Torelli publishing house. The indexing process for issues 85 and 86 in Germany resulted in a twelve-month permanent indexing of the issue series by the Federal Testing Office for writings harmful to young people , which was the longest permanent indexing at the time.

Publication in Germany

The Hanover-based Walter Lehning Verlag expanded its program to include comics with the publication of El Bravo together with two other series in 1953. The magazines produced by means of rotary printing in Piccolo format were available for 20 pfennigs . The publishing cycle was initially weekly, but was changed to biweekly as part of a change in the publisher's publishing policy in 1955. Due to a twelve-month permanent indexing El Bravo was discontinued in the same year after publication of a total of 86 numbers. It was only at the beginning of the 1960s that the comic series saw a continuation in a slightly modified form under the title Marco . Marco published a total of 48 booklets.

The Lehning series from the 1950s was reprinted in 1979 and 1980 by Norbert Hethke Verlag . A continuation of El Bravo by the same publisher took place from September 2003 to July 2005 with the subtitle 2nd Piccolo picture series .

Indexing

The booklets with the numbers 71, 72, 85 and 86 were indexed in 1954 and 1955 by the Federal Testing Office for writings harmful to minors. If the indexing of issues 71 and 72 was only related to the issue, the indexing procedure for issues 85 and 86 resulted in a permanent indexing of the series of twelve months. The indexing of issues 71 and 72 was announced on December 15, 1954 in the Federal Gazette No. 241; the announcement of the indexing of issues 85 and 86 took place in No. 38 of the Federal Gazette of February 24, 1955.

Due to a change in the law, the indexing was automatically canceled in 2002.
