Franco Bignotti

Franco Bignotti (* 1930 in Cellatica , Province of Brescia , Italy ; † February 16, 1991 in Milan , Province of Milan , Italy) was an Italian cartoonist .

life and work

After attending the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera , Bignotti began a career as a graphic designer and illustrator. His first comic book publication was the series Il Piccolo Centauro from 1951. The texts for this came from Gian Giacomo Dalmasso , with whom Bignotti designed the western comic El Bravo between 1952 and 1955 . In 1956 he started working for the Bonelli publishing house. The series Hondo was created in collaboration with Giovanni Luigi Bonelli , and the series Un Regazzo nel Far West together with his son Sergio . In the 1960s, Bignotti drew series such as Gun Flint , Capitan Miki and Il grande Blek . Since 1970 he was involved in Il Piccolo Ranger . He also worked on the comic series Zagor , Martin Mystère and Mister No with.

The western series El Bravo Hondo as well as the El Bravo successor series Marco have been published by Bignotti in German . They were published by Walter Lehning Verlag in the 1950s and 1960s . El Bravo was reprinted by Norbert Hethke Verlag .
