El Taref ( Arabic الطارف, DMG aṭ-Ṭārif ) is an Algerian city ​​and at the same time the capital of the province of the same name El Tarf with 20,362 inhabitants. (Status: 1998)

El Taref is located west of the Tunisian border. The municipality is surrounded by Aïn El Assel in the northeast, Zitouna and Bougous in the south and Bouteldja in the west.
