El hombre sin patria is a silent film from 1922 bythe Mexican film director Miguel Contreras Torres , who also wrote the script and played the lead role. The film, which can be assigned to the genres of melodrama and adventure film , is about a Mexican immigrant in the USA who eventually has to return as a result of a crime. It is the first Mexican film to deal with immigration to the United States.

Young Wastrel Rodolfo has to leave home after an argument with his angry father. He leaves Mexico and moves to the United States. After spending his money, he starts working for shelter and food in a restaurant and joins a group of railroad workers. In an argument with his foreman, Wastrel kills him. On the run, he returns to Mexico. There he then leads a normal life again.
