The Elbe Kliniken Stade-Buxtehude operate two hospitals in the Stade district . They belong to the same heath hospital group, which in addition to the same clinics nor the Heide Circle Hospital , the hospital Buchholz , the hospital Winsen and the Municipal Hospital Lüneburg belong. The merger of the previously independent clinics took place in 2001. Around 45,000 patients are treated annually. Of the total of 773 beds, 520 are kept in Stade and 253 in Buxtehude. The Elbe Kliniken Stade-Buxtehude has been an academic teaching hospital of the University of Hamburg since 2010.
