history

In 1934 the Elbschetal Viaduct was built from Ruhr sandstone as part of the largely disused railway line Witten-Schwelm . Between 1934 and 1939, 23 passenger trains ran here every day, including 5 express trains over the viaduct, plus freight traffic. The tracks were dismantled in 1984. A crossing over the bridge is not possible.
