Eleanor of Lancaster , also Eleanor Plantagenet ; Eleanor de Beaumont and Eleanor FitzAlan (* around 1318 - † January 11, 1372 in Arundel ) was an English noblewoman.

Eleanor of Lancaster came from a branch of the English ruling house Plantagenet . She was the fifth daughter of Henry Plantagenet and his wife Maud de Chaworth , a half-sister of Hugh le Despenser . Her mother died around 1322 and her father was made Earl of Lancaster in 1324 . On November 6, 1330, Eleanor Plantagenet married in London John de Beaumont, 2nd Baron Beaumont , the eldest son of Henry de Beaumont, 1st Baron Beaumont and 4th Earl of Buchan , and his wife Alice Comyn . At that time she was the lady in waiting for Queen Philippa , the wife of King Edward III of England . Her husband had a fatal accident during a tournament on April 14, 1342. On February 5, 1345 Eleanor married her third cousin Richard FitzAlan, 10th Earl of Arundel (1313-1376). Several children emerged from this marriage, including:

Eleanor was buried in the Lewes Priory . Her second husband was buried next to her after his death and a common funerary monument was erected for them, which is now in Chichester Cathedral . The funerary monument inspired Philip Larkin to write his poem An Arundel Tomb .
