history

The trio's first album was released under the musical production of Baruch Ben-Yitzhak (Rockfour) in July 2010 after the band signed a contract with the Israeli label Anova in late 2009. Heartbreaks for Fools quickly made their voices heard in the independent scene and the band gained a lot of media interest. The album's first single, Coming To Get You! became a national hit.

In February 2011, Electra released an EP with six songs under the name Songs They Taught Electra. There they covered some of their greatest sources of influence: The Israelites by Desmond Dekker , Emergency from 1999, the ballad You Don't Own Me by Lesley Gore , World Shut your Mouth by Julian Cope , I feel love by Donna Summer and also the American folk song Shortin 'bread. In March 2011 Electra played their first US tour in New York City and also performed at the international music conference South by Southwest in Austin (Texas) . The American culture magazine Paste named Electra one of the festival's most impressive bands this year. Seven months later, Electra organized another, longer USA tour across the country.

In 2012 the band played on a tour in Germany and signed a contract with Wallpaper Booking . They also recorded their second studio album, Second Hand Love .

In March and April 2013 they toured again through Europe and on the east coast of the USA.

The band members maintain a meticulous clothing style that is inspired by the rock bands of the 1960s and 1970s from New York and London . The trio is often provocative in interviews. They present themselves as liberal and politically left-wing and underline the importance of independent music as a counterforce to mainstream music .
