Electro-magnetic polka

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The electro-magnetic polka is a polka by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 110). The work was performed for the first time on February 11, 1852 in the Sofienbad Hall in Vienna .

Remarks

The polka was composed for the technician's ball , a carnival event of the technology and engineering students at the University of Vienna, and was also performed on this occasion. Strauss chose the name of the polka from the department of these students and musically processed the electro-magnetism, at least then shrouded in mystery . The work was then dedicated to these students.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 2 minutes and 5 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
