from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Harmonie-Polka is a polka by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 106). The work was performed for the first time on February 4, 1852 in the Sofienbad Hall in Vienna .

Remarks

The polka was composed for Mardi Gras in 1852 and premiered on the occasion of the Protestant community ball in the Sofienbad hall. The bohemian style polka is also dedicated to this community. However, the work was named Concordia when it was first performed . It was only in the print version that it held the name Harmonie-Polka . The name Concordia was used from 1859 for the writer and journalists' association Presseclub Concordia , which was founded at the time and for whom Strauss was then to compose several works.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 2 minutes and 53 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
