Electronic Transactions on Numerical Analysis

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Electronic Transactions on Numerical Analysis (ETNA) is an open access mathematical journal with peer review focusing on numerical mathematics and scientific computing . The journal is published by Kent State University and the Johann Radon Institute for Computational and Applied Mathematics (RICAM) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and appears exclusively in electronic form (online).

The journal was founded in 1992 by Richard S. Varga , Arden Ruttan and Lothar Reichel (all Kent State University ) as a specialist journal "by mathematicians for mathematicians". The first issue appeared in September 1993. This makes Electronic Transactions on Numerical Analysis the oldest electronic open access specialist journal in mathematics. The current editors are Lothar Reichel and Ronny Ramlau .

All papers submitted are subjected to a peer review that is customary in the field.

Open access publication model

A special feature compared to other specialist journals is the open access publication model ("diamond open access"), which incurs costs neither for readers nor for authors. The published articles are freely accessible online for everyone and there are no fees for authors. The authors transfer the copyright to the publisher for published articles.

Open access publication is achieved by the fact that, on the one hand, the entire publication process is carried out by scientists on a voluntary basis. On the other hand, the free publication model relies on the support of the issuing institutions (particularly Kent State University) and on voluntary donations.

The journal is featured in the Mathematical Reviews and in the Zentralblatt MATH . It is listed in the Expanded Science Citation Index .

The journal's Impact Factor for 2016 was 1.261. According to its own information, it ranks 52nd out of 247 journals in applied mathematics.
