Wettingen electricity and water works
The Wettingen electricity and waterworks (EWW for short) is a communal company of the municipality of Wettingen in the canton of Aargau . They were merged in 1938 from the two independently founded companies of Elektrizitätswerke Wettingen 1908 and Wasserwerke Wettingen 1901. Until the end of 2016, the EWW was run as an in-house operation. Since January 1, 2017, the EWW has been a stock corporation wholly owned by the Wettingen community.

The most populous municipality in the canton had a water consumption of 2.1 million m 3 in 2000 , that is between 6 and 9 million liters per day or 330 to 505 liters per day and inhabitant. 61% go to households and small businesses, 39% to industry and public institutions. Every day an average of 5000 m 3 of wastewater is produced, which is treated in several stages in the municipal sewage treatment plant in Turgi. The municipality of Würenlos can buy up to 2,500 m 3 of Wettinger water daily if required , as the two municipal networks are connected to one another. A regional network, which was aimed for in the mid-1980s, did not materialize.
The water is drawn exclusively from our own wells and springs. M from the volume of 2.36 million 3 are 0.33 m 3 as source water to the surface, the majority is pumped as groundwater to the surface. In addition, the two pumping stations Tägerhard (since 1933) and Bettleren have been in operation since 1965. The water in Wettingen is of drinking water quality, but is classified as hard at 9 ° fH .

To mark the centenary of the founding of the electricity company in Wettingen, statistics were published showing the following picture: The energy output ex works was 94.5 million kWh , with 19,400 inhabitants an average consumption of around 4700 kWh. The network is supplied over 31.5 km of high voltage and 195 km of low voltage network , with the entire low voltage network up to 400 meters in the ground. In 2007 there were 2900 house connections and a good 13,000 meters. The street lighting is made by 1975 lights. The electricity consumption is broken down into 59% household and small businesses, 31% industry, 3% public buildings and street lighting, another 3% for the Tägerhard sports center and 3% network loss and readout shift. The pumping station needs 1% for the water supply.
