The Elexis AG (own notation: elexis) is a German mechanical engineering company with headquarters in the district Wendener Hütte the municipality Wenden (until 2003 Frankfurt am Main ). The company is a subsidiary of SMS Holding .

history

The Elexis company was established in 1996 when AEG was dissolved by outsourcing the areas of production automation for steel, printing and plastics to Elexis Elektroholding GmbH . In detail, these were the companies AEG Elotherm GmbH, AEG Vibrationstechnik GmbH, AEG Sensorsysteme GmbH, AEG capacitors und Wandler GmbH, AEG Intermas GmbH, Elektro-Mechanik GmbH, BST Servo-Technik GmbH, Lloyd Dynamowerk GmbH and Schorch Electrical Machinery and Drives GmbH .

In 1999 the company was converted into a stock corporation and listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange in May of the same year . As a result of the economic downturn and a poorly structured portfolio as a result of unsuccessful acquisitions, the company came to the brink of bankruptcy in 2003 , but was brought back into profitability by focusing on the core business areas. From December 2004 to September 2011 the share was listed on the SDAX of the German stock exchange.

In June 2011, SMS Holding made a public takeover offer for Elexis AG; it offers 19.00 euros per Elexis share.

In July 2011 the offer was improved. SMS GmbH offered cash compensation of € 20.50 per share.

On October 3, 2014, the company's listing ended on its own application.

Group structure

In 2007 Elexis AG is divided into two business areas, Factory Automation, Steel and Printing, and Factory Automation, Plastics . Stahl und Druck is mainly active in electronic control technology for webs in the paper, steel, plastics, rubber and printing industries.
