Elger is an impact crater in the southwest of the front of the moon on the edge of the Palus Epidemiarum , west of the Capuanus crater and southeast of Ramsden . The crater is badly eroded and the inside is uneven.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the British astronomer Thomas Gwyn Elger .
