Elgin Castle

Elgin Castle is a 12th century moth ruin near Elgin in the Scottish county of Moray . Elgin was promoted to Royal Burgh by King David I in 1136 . The castle was once a royal castle.

King Edward I of England conquered the castle and stayed there in 1296 and 1303. After two unsuccessful attempts to recapture the castle, King Robert I had it destroyed. It was never rebuilt. Today it is a Scheduled Monument .
