Elia di San Clemente (dt. Elia of St. Clement) (real name: Teodora Fracasso) (born January 17, 1901 in Bari , Italy ; † December 25, 1927 there ) was an Italian nun in the order of the Discalced Carmelites and is in venerated as blessed by the Catholic Church .

Life

Theodora Fracasso grew up in a Catholic family. After a vision in which Therese von Lisieux appeared to her, she decided to become a nun . On April 8, 1920, she entered the Carmel of St. Joseph the Discalced Carmelites in Bari and took the religious name Elia di San Clemente . In 1925 she took her religious vows . In her spiritual life she was guided by the Little Way of St. Therese of Lisieux. After falling victim to slander and other trials, she led a hidden life in which she devoted herself to the mystical life of prayer. Sr. Elia di San Clemente was beatified on March 18, 2006 in Bari . Her feast day in the liturgy is May 29th .
