Eliezer Waldman ( Hebrew אליעזר ולדמן, Born February 11, 1937 in Petach Tikwa ) is an Israeli rabbi , Rosh Yeshiva and former politician who was a member of the Techija party in the Knesset between 1984 and 1990 .

Life

Waldman was born in Petach Tikwa in 1937. At that time, Palestine was still a British mandate . At the age of three, his parents took him to the United States , where he attended Yeshiva University and Brooklyn College ; there he studied philosophy and psychology. In 1956 he went to Israel, in 1972 he became head of the Special Yeshiva in Hebron and head of the Jewish settlement in the city and was one of the founders of the Kirjat Arba settlement . He was also a co-founder of the Gush-Emunim movement and the Techija party. In 1984 he was elected to the Knesset via its party list, re-elected in 1988, but finally resigned on January 31, 1990 and was replaced by Elyakim Haetzni .
