Elisabeth Andersen (born January 1, 1920 in The Hague ; † October 3, 2018 in Haarlem ) was a Dutch actress .

Life

From 1941 to 1943 Andersen attended the Amsterdam Theater School, but did not finish her training. She then made her debut with the Amsterdam Municipal Theater Company. From 1947 to 1974 she played in the Hague Comedy.

From 1948 to 1954 she was married to Jan Retèl. Andersen is the mother of the actors René Retèl (* 1949) and Georgine Retèl (* 1952).

Awards

Andersen won the Theo d'Or in 1958, 1966 and 1984. This makes her the only actress to have won the award three times. Since the death of Mary Dresselhuys in 2004 she was also the oldest living winner of the theater award until 2018. In 1965 and 1972 Andersen won the Colombina. In 2004 Andersen was awarded the Blijvend Applaus Prize. In 1968 she was made a Knight of the Order of Orange-Nassau .
