Elisabeth Decrey Warner
Elisabeth Decrey Warner (born October 16, 1953 in Lausanne ) is a Swiss politician and peace activist . The co-founder and president of Geneva Call has received several awards for her commitment to other non-governmental organizations .
Life and political activity
Elisabeth Decrey grew up in Haute-Nendaz . The ski instructor and trained physiotherapist is a mother of six, with her own and adopted children, and has been married to the American political scientist Daniel Warner since 2007.
Decrey Warner was a member of the Geneva cantonal parliament for the Social Democratic Party of Switzerland for twelve years and was its president at the end of this period in 2000/2001.
In her humanitarian commitment, she is particularly concerned with issues such as refugees , torture and landmines . She is a member of the Geneva Center for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces , the Geneva International Center for Humanitarian Demining and Women for Peace .
Decrey Warner has received several awards for her commitment. She was nominated for the 2005 Nobel Peace Prize as part of the 1000 women project . In 2006 she received the International Society for Human Rights Prize . In 2012 she was awarded the Hessian Peace Prize. In 2013 she was appointed Chevalier of the Legion of Honor .
