Elisabeth Grimling
Elisabeth Grimling (born March 17, 1952 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and federal civil servant. She has been a member of the Austrian Federal Council since 2008 .
education and profession
Grimling attended primary school from 1958 to 1962 and then secondary school between 1962 and 1966. Subsequently, from 1966 to 1968, she continued her education at a home economics school and from 1968 to 1970 attended a commercial vocational school. In 1970 she entered the service of the City School Council for Vienna, where she passed the B-Matura in 1972. She worked for the Vienna City School Board until 1978 and that year switched to the Federal Ministry for Education, Art and Culture . She was subsequently employed in Section II for the vocational school system and was promoted to Head of Unit in this area in 1995. In 1997 she was promoted to official director, in 2004 she was appointed to the government.
Politics and functions
Elisabeth Grimling was elected deputy chairwoman in the service committee in 1995 and took over the role of deputy chairwoman in the central committee of the BMUKK administration in 1997. In the same year she was elected chairman of the parliamentary group of social democratic trade unionists in Federal Representation 3 - Teaching Administration. In terms of local politics, Grimling is involved in the Brigittenau district organization of the SPÖ-Vienna, where she was elected district chairwoman of the SPÖ-Brigittenau in 2005 and in 2005 also took on the role of deputy district party chairwoman of the SPÖ-Brigittenau. She was sworn in as a member of the Austrian Federal Council on January 23, 2008 and was elected as deputy chairman of the committee for education, art and culture in 2011. In addition, Grimling is secretary in the committee for science and research as well as a member of the committee for civil rights and petitions and a member of the committee of rules.
Grimling describes integration policy, teaching, art and culture as well as science as their political focus.
