Elisabeth Karlan

Elisabeth Karlan (born November 17, 1904 in Vienna ; † January 9, 1973 ibid.) Was an Austrian actress in stage, film and television.

Live and act

Born in Vienna, she worked as a tailor at a young age. Later Elisabeth Karlan was brought to the Volksbühne in Vienna by Hans Naderer. At the theater she advanced as a folk actress in comic roles. Karlan also gave guest appearances, appeared on the radio and in cinema and television films. There she played, especially since the early 1960s, mostly grandmother roles in the tradition of the "comical old man". Elisabeth Karlan had been a member of the Löwinger-Bühne Vienna since 1955, to which she belonged until the time of her death.
